It's Day 2 of TGS and I am very nervous yet excited. Today is the cosplay contest and I am really stunned to still believe that I even signed up for this. I am cosplaying as 2B from NieR and will be competing in the "Best Female" category! I was emailed to arrive at the event quite early for I had to receive my queue number and attendance checked. My jaws dropped when I saw my queue number was 5 but that just gave me more boost of confidence that I should do my best out there regardless what happens! After checking in I proceeded to get into my cosplay and touch up my makeup. I was then allowed into the special room just for us contestants and took some photos with some other cosplayers. I even met an adorable young Harley Quinn cosplayer and took a photo with her, and wished her good luck as I noticed she had her queue tagged on her shirt. It truly makes me happy to see young children be supported by their parents in occasions like these.
After a while, it was finally time to gather round and have another attendance check once again. I wished the others good luck and saw so many other amazing cosplayers in line with me. I was quite nervous but tried to imagine how the contestant that got queue no.1 would feel! The robots and monsters truly looked terrifying and talented with all their props. A cosplayer even cosplayed as Nurse from Silent Hill and it was bone chilling to stand next to them haha. So we were gathered and finally were able to walk together to backstage access. Another segment was going on so we had to wait a while. I was getting super excited and talked to other cosplayers and took photos with them. I saw a cosplayer who cosplayed as Belle from the Thai Horror Game "Home Sweet Home" and she was so creative by even making the lockers that are used to hide from the ghosts and demons from the game!
Finally, it was show time! We started the contest by category so the first were the kids. I am really going to be honest here by the kids were so mind blowing bringing their characters to life it makes me really think just what the hell I was doing at their age? As the show went on it was the Best Female category to go up. I was super nervous and was shaking with fear yet excitement. I tried to rehearse all the steps in my head over and over again but just decided that whatever happens will happen and I will just make up as I go. I was super worried about the audio but one of the staffs assured me that it will be just enough to hear for the cosplayer performing, and he was damn right!
As it was my turn, I decided to YOLO it out and give it my best. I was the only 2B cosplayer competing so I had to do my best out there! As I did my performance my wig got in the way of sight but over all I was able to get over what I had been practicing over and over the past few weeks. Before I realized it, it was over! I never enjoyed so much being on stage, I was guided down by staff and met with the others. After a few hours the awarding ceremony was announced. I didn't win but I had so much fun that I forgot about the title of winning. I met with Rin who was dressed as my 9S and secretly dragged her to backstage with me where I went to go and fetch my belongings in the VIP room provided to us.
P'M actually was around the event and offered to take our photos again and we stayed till in was late and returned home. I can say that this was an amazing experience, and I can see myself joining TGS in 2018! I would like to thank my family and friends for their biggest support, and the staff and team of TGS who made this event possible and provided us with the best service ever. Congratulations the winner! Let's meet again in 2018 <33 Special thanks to Xora of the PropsOps Team for these breathtaking photos!!
